8 days until globe trekking!

Well its nearing that time where I'll be departing the country and traveling by ship around the world. For those of you who don't know what semester at sea is, we sail around the world stopping in 13 countries for anywhere from 1-5 days. We have classes everyday we're on the ship, including weekends. But this ends up working in our favor because we're only on the ship about half of the time. Our itinerary includes: : The Bahamas; Puerto Rico; Brazil; South Africa; Mauritius; India; Malaysia; Vietnam; Hong Kong; China; Japan; Hawaii; Costa Rica; transit the Panama Canal; end: Florida.

I have a few of my trips planned so far. In Puerto Rico I'll be going on a hike through the rainforest, walking through Old San Juan, and getting to know my shipmates. Brazil I don't have anything planned yet, but our first day there is the last day of Carneval! That will be an intense party!!!! South Africa I will be going on a Safari where we actually stay in a tent. I'll be roughing it for a few days but will hopefully catch a glimpse of some lions or leopards! Then in India I will be going to the Taj Mahal, Agra, and Varanassi. The unique part of this trip is on one morning, we wake early and sail down the Ganges river where thousands of Hindus wade into the water and pray at sunrise. I'm excited. after that its all still up in the air and I'll decide what to do once on the ship.

Also email is pretty much the only way to stay in contact with me. I really wish there was more communication because you will never know how much I will miss all of you, but there really isn't. I will be able to call from Puerto Rico and Hawaii without INSANE rates (its $3.50/min to call from the ship). If by chance you want to MAIL me a letter, I can give you the info on that, not that I expect it, but letters would be sweet.

Thats all for now, check here periodically as I will update it most likely after each country!!!

Good morning, I know its day one but I figured I'd write anyway. About all youv'e probably seen so far is air space and the ocean. At least its warm where you are. Well we are both very jealous and wish you a great trip. Remember the international sign for surrender is hands in the air. Have a great time.
